Sonja Bastin

Dr Sonja Therese Bastin is a paediatric radiologist at Starship Children’s Hospital//Te Toku Tomai, Auckland, New Zealand.
 
She is a general paediatric radiologist with a subspecialty interest in the imaging of children in suspected child abuse. Sonja is part of a team of Radiologists that are responsible for reporting child abuse imaging and part of the multidisciplinary Child Protection team/ Te Puaruruhau.
 
Sonja is one of the authors of the “Guideline for Imaging of Suspected Non-accidental Injury 2022” on the RANZCR website for use throughout Australia and New Zealand. She is the joint lead author in the original New Zealand National protocol for skeletal survey studies, and the senior author on the use of CT head . Plus, part of a multinational group lead by Professor Amaka Offiah (the Chair of the European Society of Paediatric Radiology (ESPR) Child Abuse Taskforce) developing International Consensus Guidelines for Imaging in Suspected Child Abuse.
 
In her spare time Sonja can be found Tramping in the NZ wilds and spending time with her family.
